How a goblin comes#

Every monster you kill on a hunting map has a small chance, 1 in 6,000, to bring a goblin next to it. A strong farmer meets one about every 2 hours. The players on that map see a golden message with the goblin's place: "A Treasure Goblin appeared at 120, 85! Catch it!"

  • Only usual monsters count: no event monsters (Golden Invasion, Kundun), no summons.
  • The monster must be at least a quarter of your level. A level 400 character hunting level 20 monsters gets no goblins; go where the monsters suit you.
  • Only one goblin can be on a map at a time.
  • Only the maps in the table below have goblins: none on the event maps (Blood Castle, Devil Square, Chaos Castle), the Tier Maps, the Kanturu event or the castle siege.

The four kinds#

Each goblin is one of four kinds. You can tell them apart by their colour and their name.

KindLooksHow oftenWhat it drops
Treasure Goblingold55 %jewels and a Box of Kundun, sometimes an excellent item (the map's full loot, see below)
Jeweler Goblinblue25 %twice the jewels, Jewel of Creation and Guardian more often; no Box, no excellent item
Armorer Goblinsteel, with an axe18 %an excellent item for sure, sometimes two, with 2 or more options; half the jewels, no Box
Rainbow Goblinevery colour2 %twice the jewels, the Box, an excellent item 50 %, and a Gaion's Order or 5 Suspicious Scraps of Paper

The Rainbow Goblin is the big one: when it appears, the whole server sees where, "A Rainbow Goblin appeared in Kanturu at 120, 85! Catch it!", and also who caught it or that it escaped. It has half again as much health, so there is time to run to it. The Gaion's Order is a ticket to the Tier Maps; five scraps make one. Killing it also opens the Goblin Vault (below).

Catching it#

A goblin glitters and has a glow on the ground in its colour, so it is easy to spot. It never attacks, but it runs from anyone who comes within 7 steps, so it pays to hunt it with friends who cut it off. It has a lot of health for its map, so bring your best damage.

  • It spills as you hit it. At 75 %, 50 % and 25 % of its health it drops a little: zen (anyone can pick it up, so be quick) and sometimes a jewel for the party of the player who hit it. The Treasure Goblin spills the most zen, the Jeweler Goblin a jewel every time.
  • The loot goes to the party that dealt the most damage, not always to the one who landed the last hit. If another party did more, the map sees "The loot goes to …'s party for the most damage".

After 3 minutes the goblin escapes in a burst of its colour, and the map sees "The Treasure Goblin escaped!". When it falls, the map sees who caught it, and its loot drops to the ground like any monster's: for the first 10 seconds only that party can pick it up, then anyone. Every item drops on its own, so the party can share it.

The Goblin Vault#

When a Rainbow Goblin falls, a portal opens where it died for 30 seconds, and the whole server hears who opened the vault. The party that got the rainbow goblin's loot can walk into it, up to 5 players.

  • Inside, the party has its own room for 2 minutes: 15 goblins (Treasure, Jeweler and Armorer) at half their usual health, which don't run away, and 3 chests. Click a chest to open it: zen and jewels, and maybe more (below).
  • The goblins drop their usual loot; they don't spill and don't count for battle pass quests.
  • When the time is up, or when every goblin is dead and every chest open, you have 10 seconds to pick everything up, then everyone goes back to the portal's spot.
  • There is no daily limit: every Rainbow Goblin opens one.

What a chest holds depends on where the Rainbow Goblin fell. Each chest rolls on its own:

Where and what it drops#

The maps are in four groups. The group sets how strong the goblin is and how rich its loot is; the table shows the Treasure Goblin's loot, the other kinds change it as above.

  • The jewels are Bless, Soul and Chaos; groups 3 and 4 add Jewel of Life.
  • The excellent item fits the level of the monster that brought the goblin.
  • The spills above are the Treasure Goblin's; the Armorer Goblin spills half as much zen, the Jeweler Goblin a jewel instead of zen, the Rainbow Goblin one and a half times as much zen and a jewel.
  • A goblin never drops ancient items, Jewel of Ancient, Jewel of Fate, Fenrir's materials or Flame of Condor.
  • What's inside the boxes is on Drops and boxes. The Suspicious Scrap of Paper opens the Tier Maps.
